Clubs &
Activities

A school club is the core team that leads all the students in exploring new interests, strengthening soft skills, meeting friends, and building confidence without even knowing it. At GSS, our academic clubs offer far more than after-school fun. They are stepping stones to leadership, creativity, collaboration, and independence. From Science and Technology to Sports, joining a club helps students learn who they are, what they love, and what they can achieve when they try something new.

Eligibility

Eligibility

To be eligible to join college clubs, candidates must meet certain criteria and adhere to specific rules and regulations outlined by the clubs and the college. These guidelines are designed to ensure an enriching and engaging experience for all members.

Here are the requirements:

Academic Performance: Members are required to exhibit good academic performance including cyclic tests conducted by the college. Achieving this academic standard demonstrates their dedication and ability to balance club activities with their studies.

Active Involvement: Club members are expected to actively participate in club activities. Regular attendance at meetings, events, and other club-related functions is crucial. Active involvement fosters a sense of belonging, provides opportunities for skill development, and encourages collaboration with like-minded individuals. It also ensures that the club's objectives are met effectively.

Single Club Membership: The college encourages students to explore multiple clubs based on their interests. However, they can take active membership of a single club. During the application process, the aspirants can mention their priority of clubs for their selection in membership.

Additional Eligibility Criteria: Some clubs may have additional eligibility criteria based on specific interests, skills, or prerequisites. Candidates should carefully review these requirements before applying to ensure they meet the criteria for their chosen club.

Compliance with College Policies: All club members must comply with the policies and guidelines established by the college. This includes but is not limited to respecting the code of conduct, adhering to campus facility rules, fostering inclusivity, and maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all members.

Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure

1. Announcement of Clubs and Application Submission

The school announces available clubs at the beginning of the academic year. The interested students can apply for membership along with the credentials they require to prove their potential. The application process is available both online and offline. Students may indicate their preferred clubs and demonstrate their first choice, second choice, etc.

2. Screening / Shortlisting

Applications are reviewed based on eligibility criteria. As the membership is limited in each club, shortlisting will be done based on prior experience or interest shown. An executive body is formed, including the ECA Coordinator/College Administration and former members, to undertake this step.

3. Audition/ Interview

The executive body can call for an audition if required. The aspirants must prove their potential and justify their worth with a practical trial or presentation. It also may include an interview that includes a brief interaction to assess interest, commitment, and attitude.

4. Final Selection

From the interviewed applicants, the executive body selects 4 students from grade 11 and one from grade 12, who best meet the club’s requirements and exhibit the potential to contribute actively. The additional members can be selected in case of vacant positions. The executive considers factors such as leadership skills, teamwork ability, creativity, and past experiences related to the club’s focus.

Selected students are listed and approved by the executive body. The final list of selected students is published on the notice board or the school portal. Selected students confirm their participation within a given deadline with a consent form. An orientation program is conducted to introduce goals, rules, and schedules to the new members. After the orientation, the clubs call their separate meetings and select their presidents. Although a leader is selected in each club, all members have equal authority and hence can exhibit their vibrancy equally.

Although the membership is limited, all students are free to participate in the activities of all the clubs.
